Weekly Newsletter - 18th September 2017

  Newsletter 21 February 2018

Hello Visitor,

Welcome back

It has been a pleasure receiving the children back into school this week. They have all been enthusiastic and eager to learn; we are sure that they will all have a successful year and we will try our best, working in partnership with you, to provide the children with the best education possible. We are certainly all very excited to see what the children will achieve in the coming year.
Our core value this term is responsibility; it would be great if you could talk to your children about how they can show responsibility at home and at school.

Lyncrest Lending Library

This year, we are really trying to develop a love of reading in the children. To do this, we have decided to create the Lyncrest Lending Library. This will be an opportunity for parents and carers of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 to come in at the end of Friday afternoon (fortnightly) to share a book with their child and choose a book to take home with them also. We will start Lyncrest Lending Library in these year groups but if it is successful, we will look at rolling it out into KS2 year groups. The first session of Lyncrest Lending Library will begin on the 22nd of September. We will give further details about this in the coming weeks.

Celebration Assembly

We will now be holding celebration assemblies every fortnight on a Friday afternoon (alternating between celebration assembly and the Lyncrest Lending Library). The first celebration assembly will be held next week, Friday the 15th of September, starting at 2:40pm. This will be the same format as in previous year but we will give out two pupil of the week certificates at each assembly. We will let you know before-hand if your child has been a shining example and has been chosen for pupil of the week so that you may have a better chance to attend the assembly.

Class Dojo in Year 4

dojoYear 4 children and parents are trying out a new app called class dojo. This allows Mrs Wilson and Mrs Hill to keep parents up to date with photos from class, important updates and wonderful moments. So far, 23 parents have signed up to use the app, which is absolutely fantastic. We cannot wait to hear how you have been getting on with it. If the app is successful, we will be looking to use it within other year groups.

We understand that sometimes new technology can be challenging and as such, Mrs Wilson will continue to inform you about the class’ activities by using the notice board or talking to you face to face. If there is anything you want to know about, she is very happy to speak with you at the end of the day.

Breakfast Club

Please note that the fees for breakfast club are now £2.50 per session.

We ask that children wear black school shoes. Please can you ensure that you send your child into school wearing these instead of trainers.

Lyncrest Summer Reading Challenge

beachOver the summer, Mrs Burrows set the children the challenge of having their photo taken of them reading in interesting places. We have had some great ones so far but we are sure there are more. If you still have not brought in a photo, could you please bring this in next week.

Music Lessons

Music lessons will be starting from next week:
11.9.17- guitars every Monday
13.9.17- violin (am) and brass (pm) every Wednesday

Thank you from Mrs O’Neill

thankyouMrs O’Neill sent a card this week to thank you all for presents and vouchers she received at the end of last term.  She has used the vouchers for a ‘lampshade making’ and ‘felting’ course.

Paternity leave for Mr Bowden

Mr Bowden will be on paternity leave from this Monday (11.9.17) for two weeks, following the birth of his daughter last week. He looks forward to returning on the 25th of September to see all the amazing learning that has been happening.
