Hello Visitor,

WeedPlanters

Year Five pupils performed gospel songs at The Derngate on Monday evening. This was an amazing concert and we are very proud of the singing and behaviour of the children. Thank you to Mrs Deakin, Mr Bowden and Mrs Burrows for taking care of the children from 3.15pm until around 10pm, after a busy day at school.

Once again Lyncrest have been asked to represent the town in East Midlands in Bloom. Do you have a sunny afternoon to spare? We would appreciate your support, so just give your names to the office, please. The children have been very busy and lots of things are blooming in our gardens. We have a bit of space if you feel like donating a few flowering plants for the garden or making a planter to decorate our playground.

Many thanks to the “Northamptonshire Country Centre”, Berrywood Road. They kindly donated a tray of vegetable plants from their on-site shop.   A big thank you for supporting us.

Staff Good News

Congratulations to Mrs Deakin who has attained the Higher Level Teaching Status through the University. This is an accreditation which is awarded to Teaching Assistants who have the knowledge and experience to teach a whole class. The award recognises that her teaching is of a very high level. Well done Mrs Deakin!

Miss Howkins started as a Teaching Assistant at Lyncrest Primary School nearly two years ago, after she had attained a first class degree at university. In September she will be able to train as a Teacher, whilst still working at Lyncrest but in a class teaching role. In September she will be working alongside experienced teachers and mentors at Lyncrest, and also having a placement in another primary school. She will also be attending sessions at Derby University and with the teaching school. The plan is that by the end of the summer 2018 she will be a qualified teacher. We all wish her good luck on this exciting journey.
